The University Marketing and Branding office at James Madison University advances the university's brand by effectively combining communications, marketing, and public affairs, maximizing outreach and clarity.
I have worked on over two dozen projects during my time at the University Marketing and Branding office. My day-to-day responsibilities included receiving project guidelines from university department clients, designing materials to meet their needs, and leading internal reviews with my supervisor, the Madison art director. Once approved, I delivered final materials to clients and confirm receipt. If edits were needed, I efficiently incorporated their feedback to ensure high client satisfaction.
All of my work was required JMU's guidelines established by the thorough brand guide, and I became extremely familiar working in a brand guide's style.

President James Schmidt became the new president of JMU in Fall 2025 and had an official inauguration on April 8th, 2026. My office received many requests for materials to promote the event.
The office received a request from Office of Economic and Community Development to create promotional materials for the Inauguration to be displayed downtown: an inauguration banner with a matching poster. The banner is ten feet long by three feet wide, and it was displayed outside of the Rockingham County Circuit Court in downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia, for two weeks leading up to the inauguration.

At the Northern Virginia Tech Council Cyber Summit, a booklet was provided, including information about the ad. JMU's Office of Economic & Community Development requested that our office design a half-page advertisement promoting recent JMU graduates. I created two advertisements, and they proceeded with the first to insert into the brochure.

Every JMU president must have a strategic plan to improve the school. President James Schmidt led an eight-month process to create the next JMU strategic plan over the 2025–2026 academic year. The Associate Vice President of Marketing and Branding requested a graphic explaining the four stages of the process and emblems highlighting the plan's progress.

The Learning Centers—a free tutoring service for students offered at JMU—requested a visual graphic to clearly communicate what the center has to offer. Spanning two semesters and incorporating diverse client feedback, this project demonstrates my persistence and ability to deliver polished results. The final product exceeded client expectations and became a key highlight of my internship.
